NIGERIAN CONTENT CHAMPION SERIES: "NIVAFER STEEL CONSTRUCTION CO. LTD" PIONEERS STEEL FABRICATION & CONSTRUCTION SECTOR

Local Content: NIGERIA in her bid to sustain the enlightenment drive for indigenous capacity and capabilities available in-country, has identified a Nigerian Content Champion in the Fabrication and Construction sector.   

Nivafer Steel Construction Co. Ltd was established in 1977 as a steel fabrication and erection company, and has over the years grown to be one of the leading fabrication companies in Nigeria with reference to her involvement in ground breaking projects in the Oil and Gas Industry.

Her progressive growth in capacity and capabilities over the years positioned her to be featured as a credible stakeholder considered in the domiciliation of most fabrication scopes in-country, with a brilliant expertise in the fabrication of Pressure Vessels, Design and Construction of Storage Tanks, Steel structure fabrication, fabrication and installation of pipelines, etc. and a typical example of the motive why the law demands that all fabrication and welding activities be carried out, in-country ref: Section 53 NOGICD Act, 2010.

To be identified as a Nigerian Content Champion in this category (Steel Fabrication and Construction), Local Content: NIGERIA embarked on a detailed fact finding review of the organizations commitment to the development of Local Content from previous projects till date. Facts revealed on a detailed report that Nivafer Steel Construction Co. Ltd was able to gradually expand her industrial capacity by investing in-country, to meet the dynamic and challenging demands of each project embarked on.

Her facility today boasts of a vast lay-down area, dedicated workshops for welding, blasting and painting activities, state of the art equipment such as Computer Numerical Control machines, Welding machines, Cranes of different sizes etc., a conducive office space where Engineering and other Project Management activities are carried out.

Nivafer Steel Construction Co. Ltd achieved this feet with the utilization if a committed workforce and management approach to develop Human Capacity. During the review carried out by Local Content: NIGERIA, physical assessment revealed that her current workforce constituted of ninety six percent (96%) Nigerians and four percent (4%) foreign staff, with reference to documented evidence it was seen that this growth in Nigerian workforce was very gradual  over the past years, but was made consistent with the approach of a succession and training plan in line with Section 30 and  31(a)  of the NOGICD Act, 2010.
