PTDF IMPLEMENTS MEASURES TO INCREASE EMPLOYABILITY OF TRAINEES

 

 

PTDF Implements Measures to Increase Employability of Trainees.

As we all know, the PTDF over the years has consistently implemented its mandate to develop capacity by sponsoring eligible Nigerians on several scholarship schemes.

 

Recently the parastatal took a bold step to sign a MoU with Caverton Helicopters (an indigenous logistics and aviation service provider in the oil and gas industry) to engage fifteen (15) helicopter pilots trained by the PTDF, this move was made as part of the presidential directive for government agencies involved in developing capacity to further ensure sustenance of this capacity by creating employment opportunities for its trainees.

 

 

At the event which took place in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of the PTDF, Femi Ajayi highlighted the fact that the PTDF had begun implementing measures to ensure increased employability of its trainees as part of the governments’ agenda on youth empowerment and employment.
 

In response to the statement, the Chairman of Caverton Helicopters; Adeniyi Makanjuola commended the initiative as being timely, at a phase when the organisation was winding down on the mobilization of expatriates and giving priority to the available local capacity.

 

The chairman further stated that, the era of engaging expatriates did not profit the organisation so well, due to the tight work schedule (rotation period), cost impact and not forgetting the logistic requirements tied it.

 

Just to recap, the fifteen (15) beneficiaries of this engagement were part of twenty (20) Nigerian youths sponsored by the PTDF for an eighteen (18) month intensive Helicopter Pilot Program at the Hover Dynamics Centre in South Africa. They acquired the following licenses: Private Pilot Licenses, Commercial Pilot Licenses, Instrument Flight rating and all other requirement to be internationally certified pilots.
