Over the past thirteen
months, the Italian multinational Saipem
Nigeria with a track record of more than forty (40) consistent years of doing
business in Nigeria, last weekend set an outstanding precedence in the
development of the Local Human Capacity with the issuing of certificates to One
Hundred (100) Nigerians successfully empowered in different disciplines.
This remarkable achievement
being the first of its kind in Capacity Building, was realized on the Southern Swamp Associated Gas Solutions
Project with acronym SSAGS-Project
having the Shell Petroleum Development
Company (SPDC) as the Operator with Saipem
as the Contractor.
The event captioned "NIGERIAN CONTENT HUMAN CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PROGRAM: Certificate Issuing Ceremony” was held
in Port-Harcourt and graced by delegates from the Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
Saipem representatives
present enlightened the audience that a total of Sixty (60) Nigerians were trained on Craft skill courses like: Rigging, Scaffolding, Welding, Pipe-Fitting, Non-Destructive Testing etc. with
International Certifications and Forty
(40) Nigerian Graduates were trained on the organizations core service
areas like: Engineering Design, Quality Assurance & Control, Project Planning & Control etc. also with International Certification Courses to equip them to function
in the oil and gas industry, all programs carried out concurrently.
To further crown the day, Saipem stated that all the Graduate trainees
have been offered direct employment in the organization. Indeed this was a
laudable performance and NCDMB held nothing back in commending Saipem for this
giant stride and advised other multinationals to emulate this.
