NIGERIAN CONTENT COMMITMENTS

Human Capacity Development:

Beyond her commitment to maintain the majority percentage of her workforce as locals, and ensuring progressive technology transfer by building technical partnerships, domiciliation of all EPIC activities in-country with a minimum of 250,000 man-hours of Engineering and Technical services and an excess of 6,500,000 man-hours on Construction services all domiciled in-country.

In-Country Industry Capacity Development

Alcon has also pioneered in developing the Nigerian local capacity in a new sector, with the establishment of a Low-Voltage Panel Building facility in-country, in partnership with ABB.

This facility is equipped with state of the art tools, machinery, and a dedicated fully functional operational environment for the assembly of Low-Voltage panels.

The initiative was given birth by a strategic move taken by Alcon Nigeria to implement the commitments on her Nigerian Content Equipment Certificate (NCEC) business plan, to realize a Technology Transfer Initiative and further develop an in-country assembling facility. Indeed this has been achieved with her graduation from a Distributor and System Integrator of ABB to an Authorized Panel Builder of ABB for Low- Voltage range of products to serve the Nigerian market and beyond.

Prior to this, Alcon Nigeria has successfully engaged its local workforce in foreign training (technology transfer), so as to enable them acquire the requisite experience to optimally operate this world class facility.

As a look ahead Alcon Nigeria is part of the beneficiaries of a joint MOU with NCDMB, NAPIMS and SPDC to provide land and good working environment for development of large facilities to cater for the growing demands of the Oil and Gas industry which will be situated at the SPDC Industrial Area in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

This initiative, a first and is part of SPDC’s commitment to support indigenous organizations identified with a consistent track record in developing their in-country capacity.
